Cómo saber si mi talla de cintura es saludable y hot

¿Qué es el Índice cintura – cadera?

De acuerdo al reporte Lancet, publicado en 2005, los investigadores concluyen que la relación entre la circunferencia de cintura y cadera es la medida de obesidad más asociada al infarto al miocardio. Es más certera que la tensión arterial para predecir enfermedad cardiovascular.

El índice cintura-cadera es la relación que resulta de dividir el perímetro de la cintura de una persona por el perímetro de su cadera, ambos valores en centímetros (cm).

Los estudios indican que una relación entre cintura y cadera superior a 1.5 en varones y a 1 en mujeres, está asociada a un aumento en la probabilidad de contraer diversas enfermedades (diabetes mellitus, enfermedades coronarias, tensión arterial, entre otras).

¿Cómo medirlo?

  • Mide la cadera en la parte más protuberante
  • Y la cintura en la parte más angosta (abajo de la última costilla) ó 1 pulgada (2.5cm) por arriba del ombligo.
  • Para conocer cuál es la circunferencia de cintura que no te conviene pasar, divide tu estatura en cm por la mitad. Por ejemplo:

180cm/2=90; por lo tanto, tu cintura no debe pasar los 90cm.

  • Hombres, empieza el riesgo a partir de 90cm, siendo alto arriba de 100.
  • Mujeres, riesgo a partir de 80cm, alto arriba de 90cm.

¿Cuál es la relación cintura/cadera que te hace ver mejor?

  • En mujeres, estéticamente la relación ideal es de 0.7.
  • En hombres, la relación ideal es entre 0.8 y 0.9, más cerca de 0.8 es mejor.

En cuestiones de salud, riesgo cardiovascular o problemas de insulina:

  • Lo ideal es una relación (cociente cintura/cadera) debajo de 0.75
  • la media, 0.85.
  • Hasta 0.9 hay un riesgo alto
  • A partir de 1, el riesgo es extremo.
